Simple Prayers: Lead Me

The simple prayer “lead me” is one of the most honest prayers we can offer. It rises in moments of uncertainty, when decisions feel unclear and the next step is hard to see. Yet this message reframes that prayer—not as a request for instant answers, but as part of a life shaped over time.

Spiritual formation becomes central. Through consistent practices like prayer, Scripture, worship, and community, lives are formed in ways that prepare for decisions before they even arrive. These ordinary rhythms shape how the world is seen, how others are understood, and how choices are made.

The message draws on the image of God as the potter and we as the clay. The prayer is not “force me,” but “form me.” That formation is ongoing. Just as even elite athletes still rely on coaches to see what they cannot see, followers of Jesus continue to need guidance, perspective, and growth.

Perspective is another key theme. The prayer “lead me” becomes a request to see from a higher place—to gain clarity beyond immediate circumstances. Yet not every perspective is trustworthy, which is why an undivided heart, shaped through worship, is essential.

Finally, the message moves toward action. Faith is not waiting until everything is clear. It is taking the next step while trusting that wisdom will come along the way. The call is simple but challenging: trust the formation already at work, take the step ahead, and believe that God continues to lead.
